Applied Sciences & Humanities

Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry is the basic need of all Engineering Sciences. Hence these are included as a compulsory subject in the syllabi for all the branches of engineering during first, second and third semesters of B.Tech program.

The department conducts the courses for the first, second and third semester students of engineering to develop use of applied science for research and technical careers in industries, academia and physical laboratories. The courses offered, bridge between science and engineering and its implementation through their applications. This provides a strong platform for the students to use fundamental concepts for developing the skills and to solve the problems.

Applied science is a bridge that connects pure, basic science like Physics or Chemistry with engineering practices. Faculty and students in applied science employ fundamental physical and chemical principles to create innovative new technologies. These novel solutions are then handed off to engineering disciplines to be refined, enhanced and used to address important societal problems.

Applied Mathematics offers courses to B.Tech / M.Tech students of various engineering disciplines. The syllabus has been designed in the areas of applied mathematics, computational techniques and statistical testing to impart the sound knowledge of the various mathematical tools used and their applications in the engineering disciplines.

Humanities comprise disciplines such as English, Economics and the career development requirements of Placement & Training. It addresses skill gaps between academia and industry requirements by making the students competent in communication and interpersonal skills.

Message from Head of the Department

Established at the very inception of the college in 1980, the Department of Physics has been on its path truly meeting its objective to orient and train the students towards fundamental knowledge of Physics needed for the future technological advances. The Physics is the scientific base on which higher technical education should build a general engineering and special training. Keeping in view that an in-depth study of the foundations of physics is the most justified and economic form of knowledge and skills needed today, the well-experienced faculty of the dept. strive to instil a continuous scientific and technological temperament in the young engineering minds.

Department of Engineering Chemistry was established at the very inception of the college in 1980. The objectives of the department are to train and orient the engineering entrants towards experimentation and required scientific skills. The well-qualified faculty of the department carry forward various functions/activities that are interwoven with multidisciplinary aspects that bring science to the society. There are 7 Ph.Ds and two of them are Post-doctoral researchers. To its credit, the department has completed 4 research projects (UGC, CSIR, DST) and one of the faculty got sanctioned the CSIR, New Delhi, Visiting Associate-ship. The department was recognized as a Research Centre from JNTUK, Kakinada, in the year 2021.

Established as department with exemplary academic orientation that fosters stupendous knowledge dissemination of English and foreign languages and a top-notch training for placements to the technological students, it carved a niche in rendering an unparalleled professionalism. Besides imbibing prolific pedagogical practices, the department pioneers in carrying out various personality development and career building programmes alongside training classes for GRE/TOEFL/IELTS/DUOLINGO test.

As the ancient Indian scriptures proclaim, ‘vaagarthaaviva samprukthou vaagartha prathipatthaye…’ which translates into English as "just like Parvati-Parameswara, the parents of the world, the perfect concord between speech and meaning make a complete and impactful language." Our faculty with the right orientation to English language teaching are extremely committed to making the whole student community of the campus become highly articulate with confidence essential for both professional as well as life processes.
