About the Department

Established in 1999, the Department of Information Technology has developed into a dynamic center for academic excellence, research, and innovation. Beginning with an intake of 60 students, the department has expanded significantly and now offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs with a current B.Tech intake of 180 students. The department is dedicated to delivering quality technical education through innovative teaching methodologies, industry-oriented training, and research-focused initiatives.

The department provides modern infrastructure, including spacious classrooms, e-classrooms, advanced computer laboratories, a modern library, and a fully air-conditioned seminar hall. High-speed internet and advanced computing facilities support academic and research activities. Programs offered include B.Tech in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Science and Business Systems, and Computer Science and Information Technology, along with M.Tech in Information Technology. Through industry collaborations, technical events, hands-on training, and research opportunities, students gain strong technical and analytical skills, preparing them for successful careers in industry, higher education, and research.

The Department of Information Technology at SAGI RAMA KRISHNAM RAJU ENGINEERING COLLEGE has been a cornerstone of technical excellence since its establishment in 1999. With a current intake of 180 students per year, the department has consistently delivered high-quality education that bridges the gap between academia and industry. Our distinguished panel of highly qualified PhD faculty members brings a wealth of research expertise and academic excellence to every classroom. The department is Recognized as a Research Centre by JNTU Kakinada, that serves as a hub for innovation, cutting-edge projects, and advanced scholarly activities. Further underlining our commitment to quality, the department has earned NBA Accreditation three times — a prestigious recognition that reflects our sustained standards of academic and infrastructural excellence.

The Department of Information Technology has an outstanding placement record, with students securing positions in leading national and multinational companies across the technology sector. To complement academic learning, the department conducts comprehensive training programs with aptitude development, coding bootcamps, strengthens curriculum in areas such as cloud computing, big data and data analytics addition to emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science etc. The department also initiated M. Tech programmes in IT from 2006 and AI from 2026. Our faculty employs a diverse and dynamic range of pedagogical approaches including project-based learning, peer instruction, and integration of MOOCs and online platforms — ensuring every student is equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical competence.

Student life in the Department of Information Technology extends far beyond the classroom.
